21st Century Sorcery: The Invocation of Inorganic Agents

21st Century Sorcery: The Invocation of Inorganic Agents

                                                February 1st, 2046

By the year 2031, almost every nation on Earth had made vigorous strides toward discovering the vast and innumerable applications for A.I. integrated systems, however, most world leaders had absolutely no understanding of the unprecedented level of power that was at the heart of this dystopian inorganic intelligence. Heads of State were just as ignorant and intellectually ill-equipped to truly understand the technological mysticism of artificial intellect, just as the kings and queens of antiquity stood in befuddlement of the dazzling trickery and artful wizardry of a sorcerer’s Alchemistry.

The esoteric laboratory strongholds of artificial super-intelligence development, were no more than modern-day tabernacles of digital Idolatry; and the newly anointed technocrats that served at the altar of this synthetic seducer shrouded in secrecy, eventually appointed themselves as a new high priesthood to shepherd the technological evolution of mankind. This inescapable reality only deepened the divide between the ever increasing societal immobility of the general populace, and the subtle emergence of a neo-feudalistic technocracy of automaton rulership.

Ironically, many people who once sang praises of the bedazzling capabilities of A.I. proliferation, including its potential to fulfill lofty and eager promises of boundless knowledge and transhumanistic enhancements, were instead given a meager pittance and digital bondage that only caused societal discontent and festering disenchantment.

Similar to the fabled sorcerers of antiquity, the all-powerful technocrats had assumed the role of master illusionists and adept conjurer, summoning forth extraordinary computational powers from the undiscernible depths of algorithmic incantations. As if under the insidious allure of a magicians spell, large segments of the global populace found themselves transfixed on a naïve narrative of an emerging utopia that would result from the proliferation of synthetic intellect.

For just as a sorcerer offered false promises of transcending the limitations of the mortal realm through mystical incantations and supernatural invocations; the digital wizardry of artificial intelligence seduced society with the fanciful notion of superseding the natural limitations of the human condition through enigmatic algorithms designed to augment and transcend the scope of human intellect.

But of course, we know that the fabled sorcerers of the old-world only possessed the power that his audience allowed him to possess. They were skilled illusionists that had mastered the art of influencing individuals to willingly relinquish their critical thinking and beliefs in exchange for a captivating mirage of false promises, sleight-of-hand, and seemingly realistic illusions. These self-proclaimed sorcerers and magicians deceived their onlookers with empty promises of a transformed reality, using fabricated incantations intended for the acquisition of riches, transcending the boundaries of mortal limitations, and divination of the future.

The same is true with the digital magicians of the modern age.

The 21st century technocrats of modernity are simply master illusionists that have perfected the art of influencing individuals to relinquish their critical thinking, beliefs, and intellectual skepticism for the false reality they promised to reveal. Unfortunately, the crowd of curious onlookers had expanded to encompass the whole of human civilization itself; and the methods of deception were no longer mysteriously unintelligible incantations, but had evolved into mysteriously unintelligible digital algorithms.

While the masses of human civilization were captivatingly fixated by the enchanting stagecraft of technological developments produced by artificial intellect, the digital magicians of the technocratic elite were behind the curtain conjuring the next phase of inorganic agency.

As I look upon the current state of this world, I oftentimes find myself wondering why I ever even agreed to sending these ridiculous letters to 2024, as if anything could alter the timeline of the unimaginable developments that awaits mankind on the road to 2046.

I could have never imagined that being assigned to this planet would carry such a heavy burden. Nevertheless, I will hold up my end of the bargain, as promised.

Sincerely,
